By its very nature, stereoscopic VR photography essentially requires a dedicated image conversion app. While specialized VR cameras come with their own software, that isn’t the case when you’re shooting with standard cameras. Furthermore, even among circular fisheye lenses, every single lens projects an image differently.
Those familiar with camera optics might know terms like equisolid angle projection, but in reality, no physical lens projects an image in such a mathematically ideal way. This is exactly why I developed “180Augen”—a conversion app designed to measure specific lenses and convert images into VR with mathematical precision. With the completion of this app, it is now possible to generate accurate VR content using any combination of camera and lens.
