3D Movie(for Quest2/3)
Winter is the perfect season for hiking old trails and low mountains, but since the weather hasn’t been great lately, this is my first shoot in a while. After a warm cup of noodles on the mountainside, I began filming. Capturing footage from the air feels truly majestic; by flying the drone sideways, it is relatively easy to create videos capable of stereoscopic vision. Unlike my usual style, I published this one by displaying the stereo video within a standard rectangular frame. Since I didn’t apply any projective transformation or adjust the saturation and sharpness, the editing process was incredibly easy.
Last year, AI and 3DGS (3D Gaussian Splatting) were the talk of the town, but this year, with XR glasses being released one after another, it feels like we are finally reaching a point where stereoscopic viewing will go mainstream. My local area happens to be a treasure trove of cultural assets, so there is a mountain of subjects to film. Now that the yen has become too weak to travel abroad, it might be a good idea to spend time wandering around nearby, capturing VR footage of familiar landscapes that I’ve seen a thousand times before.
